Professional Development
This will be my second year working at a Pre-K-12 School, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. It has recently transitioned into Project Based Learning. I am interested in working with my colleagues to build a community, promote equity, increase creativity and tune projects, among other things. I also want to work with parents so that they support their children in their education. In this section of my portfolio, I will include a few of the presentations I will develop throughout the year, for teacher workshops, and for parent conferences.
Excellence and Growth
Based on our School Vision at my workplace, I created this presentation to talk to teachers about ways to achieve Excellence and Growth. I presented some of Ron Berger's work on An Ethic of Excellence, some of Carol Dwecks work ond Mindsets, and a few other authors cited at the end of the presentation. The question that triggered this Teacher workshop was: How can I help my colleagues transition from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset in order to motivate students and achieve excellence in their work? Project Planning
I created this Prezi to talk to teachers about Project Planning. It was used during a workshop that emphazised the importance of doing the project yourself first, the need for a Letter to Parents or Project Handout, and the creation of a Timeline. For the workshop I prepared a Prezi with the basic information. Click on the picture to go to the Prezi. I also created a Dropbox folder with Project Planners and also examples of the projects I have done and all of their elements: Letters to parents, rubrics, reflections, Socratic seminars, etc. Here is the link to Dropbox:
